Kall Kwik Junior League - At the half-way stage Chapel Allerton head the tables in the three divisions, Under-17, 13 and 15.

York side Wigginton and Collingham are both mounting strong challenges in the Under-17 table. Collingham are one point behind Chapel Allerton while Wigginton are four adrift.

In the Under-15 league York Railway Institute have emerged as main rivals to Chapel Allerton. They are in second place on 31 points, three less than the leaders.

St Peter's, York, who have a match in hand on their rivals are handily placed in fourth position.

Chapel Allerton's dominance in the Under-13 league could prove too much for the chasing pack. They lead the way on 48 points and are the only undefeated side. Collingham are ten points behind in second spot with Wigginton third on 32 points.

Harrogate Squash Club are mid-table on 20 points but Knaresborough are bottom, finding the going tough with five defeats in as many matches.

Kall Kwik Harrogate and District League

leaders Moortown are on course for a league and cup double this season in the Kall Kwik Harrogate and District League.

Currently leading Division One the Moortown team has been top seeded in the league cup and in the quarter finals face Adel who are third from bottom of Division One.

Other quarter finals, being played on February 4, are Harrogate v Ilkley; Nomads v Collingham and Scott Hall v Harlow.

The final will be at Harrogate Squash Club on April 22.

Last season Moortown just missed out on the double, being beaten in the cup by Nomads.

In the B cup contest Collingham B have been named favourites and in the quarter-finals on February 5 will be at home to Harlow C. Second seeds Otley are away to Moortown B. The other matches involve Harlow B and Knaresborough, Harrogate Squash B and Harrogate Squash C.

In the C contest Ilkley B are top seeded and will play winners of the Moortown-Harrogate clash on February 4. Pateley Bridge will face winners of the Knaresborough-Ripon clash and Otley B, the second seeds, have home advantage against Collingham C. Boroughbridge A team will face their B team in the remaining match.

The final will be at Harrogate Squash Club on April 22. The venue of the B contest will be on April 16 at a venue to be arranged.

l Leading world ranked senior player Simon Parke from Harrogate has lost his long held record for British junior titles.

Parke held nine British junior titles en route to his fame on squash courts arounds the world via Pontefract and Harrogate Squash Clubs.

But at the weekend 18-year-old James Willstrop, who also plays at Pontefract, won his tenth British title as a junior by capturing the British Under-19 Open, an event which attracted a world class field.

Parke's talents were first spotted by Jonah Barrington, the former world champion, during a coaching clinic at Pontefract where Willstrop first started playing under the guidance of his father and former York schoolmaster Malcolm Willstrop, now coaching professional at Pontefract.
