A TEACHER has appeared in court accused of ten charges relating to indecent images of children.

Martin Andre Pauc, 56, was suspended from his job at a primary school in the Sunderland area in November after the allegations came to light.

Following a police investigation he was charged in December and came before magistrates in Houghton-le-Spring last week. Mr Pauc, of Elliott Close, Penshaw, near Sunderland, is accused of two charges relating to the taking of indecent photographs of children and eight of possessing indecent images of children, on computer equipment.

The alleged offences are all said to have taken place between July 1 and October 30 last year. Mr Pauc was remanded on conditional bail until January 24.

A spokeswoman for Sunderland City Council education authority confirmed he will remain suspended until court proceedings are completed.
