Students at Bedale High School have just completed an eight week Football Association Referees Course and now hope to put their knowledge to use by refereeing school matches.
Head of Physical Education Mr Martyn Coombs said: "These courses are wonderful since they allow students the opportunity to referee at a very young age to build up their experience.
"Refereeing these days is a young persons game and at the highest level is very lucrative financially. Who knows, one of these students may be refereeing in the Premier League one day."
The course was run by the Northallerton and District Referees Association and the Referees Instructors Dave Wells and Keith Jeffries who held the course at The Lodge at Leeming Bar on Monday evenings.
The course culminated in a written and oral examination on the Laws of the Game and specific footballing situations.
