The harsh reality of life after Pop Idol caught up with Aaron Bayley yesterday.
The 26-year-old Geordie had dreamed of superstardom, jetting around the world on the back of a fat recording contract.
However, last night he was back in Newcastle sharing the stage with a 6ft muppet called Jiggy. They appeared at the Jubilee Theatre, in the grounds of St Oswald's Hospice. Jiggy is the appeal's mascot and posed with Aaron to publicise a fundraising show tonight, aimed at helping sick children.
The former Arriva train driver said: "I'm loving every minute of it and at least it looks like I won't be going back to driving trains.
"There are lots of offers coming in. There could be some TV work and there's a record company interested in signing me.
