POLICE who recovered the body of a man from the River Skerne in Darlington yesterday afternoon are not treating the man's death as suspicious.
Officers, along with fire fighters using a rescue boat, were called to a stretch of the river near Russell Street, next to the Red Barn household store, after a member of the public reported seeing the body shortly before 3.30pm.
Work is continuing in an effort to establish the identity of the man, but police say a post mortem inquiry is unlikely before Monday.
