South Durham Royals' journey to Winscale was rewarded with a 2-0 victory at the weekend.
After just ten minutes Jodie Gwynne slotted the ball through to Tracy Swales who dribbled past the defence to score but it continued to be a tightly-fought match.
With five minutes of the first half remaining, a Winscale corner was cleared by an excellent defensive header from Katie Edwards.
The second half continued to be tight, but the Royals' midfield held fast with strong tackling from Amy Jerrison. After 25 minutes Katie Edwards played the ball from defence out to Katie Hewitson on the left wing who carried and delivered the ball to the feet of Tracy Swales. Swales ran into the box and pushed the ball past the keeper.
Royals defended strongly for the remainder of the match with Harker, Forrest, Allen and Edwards keeping the attack under control. An excellent all-round, spirited performance. Captain Kim O'Connor was awarded player of the match.
