THE secrets of ancient Coptic weaving, from Egypt, will be revealed at a special workshop in North Yorkshire next week. The two-day workshop at the Mercer Art Gallery, in Harrogate, will be led by textile artist Sue Lawty. She was inspired by the fine weaving that is found in Coptic textiles and will be giving people the chance to study them at first-hand on Tuesday and Wednesday. Participants will be given the chance to draw, design and weave their own textiles. The workshop costs £30 for the two days. For further details contact Sarah Freeman, on (01423) 556188.
