MORE space for car parking is on the way for Hartlepool residents.
A number of grassed and asphalt verges in the Owton and Rossmere areas will be converted to car parking spaces in a project funded by the Owton Rossmere Single Regeneration Budget partnership.
Work is due to start soon in Ormesby Road, Jameson Road, Muir Grove and Ivanhoe Crescent, and will take about six weeks. The work will be carried out by Hartlepool Borough Council at a cost of £80,000.
The partnership is also looking at carrying out similar schemes in the Ayr, Ednam, Elvan and Farnell Groves, as well as in Dunoon Road and Inverness Road, which are being discussed with local residents.
Stuart Green, partnership manager, said: "Due to the lack of space on the road, people have been parking on the verges, which in some cases has led to them becoming very muddy and unsightly.
"The new work will build on the success of similar schemes in a number of roads, including Forth Grove.
