PLANS to develop a traffic-calming scheme in a village are about to be put to the public.
North Yorkshire County Council is hoping to improve road safety for both pedestrians and motorists in Brompton-on-Swale, in Richmondshire.
The authority is sending out plans and questionnaires to residents and traders on roads included in the proposed scheme - Richmond Road, Station Road and Bridge Road. Plans will also go on display in the village post office.
Surveys of traffic have shown that more than 45 per cent of motorists break the speed limit in the village. Safety measures could include narrowing roads, a footway and raised speed tables
