RESIDENTS of Oswaldkirk, near Helmsley, have been awarded a grant by the Heritage Initiative Fund towards producing a history of the Domesday Book village.
Helen Goodman - one of the team collecting documents, photographs and artefacts - said it was likely to cost £4000 to produce and it is hoped to launch it next September.
Oswaldkirk is famed for its parish church of St Oswald's, which dates from Saxon times.
The history book will include pictures of present residents outside their homes.
"We have already received quite a lot of materials but we are asking everyone to look in their attics and drawers for old photographs and memorabilia which we can include" said Mrs Goodman.
