DEDICATED Jennie Tarn has been rewarded after almost 40 years work for the voluntary scene in north Durham.
At a ceremony in the town's Civic Centre on Friday, the WRVS volunteer, from Chester-le-Street, was presented with a clasp for her efforts during the past 39 years.
She has already received a long-service medal for 15 years and a clasp for a further 12 years. The latest clasp marked a further 12 years' service.
Mrs Tarn is a volunteer in the WRVS tea bar, at the town's general hospital.
North Durham MP Kevan Jones, who presented her with the clasp, said: "WRVS volunteers in County Durham touch the lives of many local people every year, and Jennie Tarn has made a huge contribution to this by giving so much of her time so generously.
"I am delighted that Jennie's hard work is being recognised in such a fitting way.
