DETECTIVES have revealed a new North Yorkshire link in the case of a missing Korean student.
Officers also confirmed yesterday that they are linking the disappearance of In Hea Song, 22, with the killing of Hyo Jung Jin, whose remains were discovered in a country lane near York.
The women had lived at the same house in west London.
Police gave few details of the links to North Yorkshire, but revealed that Miss Song, 22, had visited the county prior to her disappearance.
The body of Miss Jin, 21, a student of French at the University of Lyon, in France, was found near the village of Askham Richard, on November 18.
Police said she had stayed at a house in Eagle Street, west London, which was Miss Song's home for a time. There is no evidence that they knew each other.
Miss Song, who was studying at Guildhall University, in London, had not been seen or heard from since December 8.
Detective Chief Inspector Vic Rae, leading the Metropolitan Police investigation into the disappearance of Miss Song, said: "After liaising with North Yorkshire Police, we have discovered a number of links between the disappearance of Miss Song and the murder of Miss Jin."
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Ankers, in London with a team of 12 North Yorkshire officers, said: "Discovering that these young women had stayed at the same address is clearly a significant development, although we are still unsure of their link with York."
