Quad bike theft at farm

Thieves made off with a valuable haul from a garage at Tanners's Hall Farm, near Crook, between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Among the stolen items was a red Honda 4x4 TRx400 quad bike, worth £2,500; a £1,550 industrial steam cleaner; a galvanised a steel sheep trailer; and a Stihl saw and a chain saw, each valued at £300. ROAD WORKS: Darlington Borough Council will start road works in Allington Way and McMullen Road, in Darlington on Friday. Traffic restrictions will be in place.

ART INSPIRATION: The mining industry is the inspiration for two forthcoming art exhibitions at Bishop Auckland Town Hall. Squint, featuring work by George Robson, focuses on the Durham Miners' Gala. It runs from February 11 to March 2. Toil, Sweat and Dust, featuring work by Bob Olley, runs from March 18 to April 13.

PLAYER STOLEN: An Alba CD player, valued at £60, was stolen from a Mitsubishi Colt vehicle, in Beveridge Way, Newton Aycliffe, between 11am and 3pm on Sunday.

WINDOW SMASHED: The downstairs window of a house in Skirlaw Road, Newton Aycliffe, was smashed by a stone at about 8.45pm on Sunday.
