THE family of a holidaymaker who died in a Greek hospital, have thanked the public for an "excellent" response to a demonstration.
Christopher Rochester, 24, of Chester-le-Street, died after a balcony fall while visiting his brother in Rhodes 18 months ago.
Since then, the family have campaigned for the Greek authorities to look at the death again. They claim there were question marks over the diagnosis of his condition after his body was returned without a kidney. When a kidney was eventually sent, DNA tests revealed it did not belong to Christopher.
His mother, Pam, and stepfather George Cummings, held a demonstration in Durham City on Saturday. They received a licence from Chester-le-Street District Council to collect money for the campaign and took £88.41.
They were supported by Nigel Race, also of Chester-le-Street, who underwent an operation in Greece without an anaesthetic.
