VILLAGERS of all ages have joined forces to create a lasting tribute to their community - in the form of a textile parish map.
The people of Scruton, near Leeming Bar, were awarded £4,000 from the National Lottery under the Millennium Awards for All scheme.
And with the help of artists from Rural Arts North Yorkshire, in Thirsk, they are using the money to create the huge wall-hanging.
Workshops are being held each week for different age groups to help the work along and it is hoped the map will be hung in the village's Coore Memorial Hall in early April.
"It depicts the local environment and community and one of the main features are the cedar trees from the local park," said Angela Hayward of Rural Arts.
"Everybody's doing their bit for the project and there's a real community spirit being shown."
