A PACKAGE of drop-in sessions for parents and toddlers was launched in Redcar yesterday.
It has been set up by the new Sure Start scheme for west Redcar and events began at Redcar Youth and Community Centre, in Ayton Drive, with an arts and crafts session.
A series of Read For Fun session has also been arranged and these will take place at Roseberry Square Library on Fridays from 2pm until 3pm, Greengates Primary School on Thursdays from 9am until 10.30am starting next week, and at Oxgang Close Community Centre starting on Thursday, January 31 and being held every Thursday from 2pm until 3pm.
Sure Start Development Manager Veronica Harnett, who is responsible for the programme in Kirkleatham, Newcomen and Dormanstown, said: "Parents are already involved in planning the services, choosing what they want for their children.
"This is a new beginning."
