ORGANISERS of this year's Stockton International Riverside Festival are inviting performance ideas from community groups across the region.

Kevin McAuley, from Stockton Borough Council, said: "Stockton is a vibrant town with numerous local artists, many of whom would love to showcase their talents at the festival.

"Now is their chance. We are inviting ideas from anyone who is willing and able to steer them through to a performance at this year's event."

Community music agency Studio 64, which works across the Tees Valley, will co-ordinate community arts activities for this year's Riverside Festival, which takes place in July and August.

Paul Burns, project co-ordinator for Studio 64, said: "Although the Stockton International Riverside Festival is based mainly on music, street theatre and visual arts, we would be interested in hearing ideas from any artists who are interested in being a part of this great event."

The council is asking for any performers to submit their ideas in writing to the project co-ordinators at Studio 64, 90 Corporation Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 2RE.

Dates for the festival have yet to be confirmed.
