A PONY society will find out today whether it will be allowed to stage a popular annual spring stallion and breed show in Barnard Castle.
The event has been held on the town's Demesnes for several years, but last year's foot-and-mouth outbreak forced local councillors to close the plot of land.
Members of Teesdale District Council's community services committee, meeting today, will be recommended by officers to grant permission for the show in May.
The event is traditionally held on the same weekend as the Teesdale Thrash, which draws visitors from around the dale.
At the meeting, members will also be recommended to grant permission for the Spring Bank Holiday Fair to be held in the town's Galgate car park.
This year, the Spring Bank Holiday has been moved to coincide with the Queen's golden jubilee celebrations, so the fair will be held between May 30 and June 4, if it receives approval.
The meeting will be held at the council chamber, at Teesdale House, Barnard Castle, at 10am
