A MAN was charged with assault last night following an attack on the daughter of former Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson.
The 20-year-old was arrested yesterday after the weekend incident in Durham, which left Claire Louise Robson needing stitches.
Twenty-one-year-old Miss Robson was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham after the incident, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Yesterday, she visited a hospital on Teesside to seek advice about her injuries from a plastic surgeon.
The expert advised her to wait until her stitches are removed before deciding whether surgery was necessary.
The ex-England skipper and his wife Denise have travelled from Cheshire to comfort their eldest daughter at her home in the Chester-le-Street area.
Her grandmother, Maureen Robson, said: "It's been a shock to the family, but she's a strong girl and he'll bounce back,."
The 20-year-old, who is believed to be local, will appear before magistrates in Chester-le-Street next Thursday.
