Irish theme to charity dinner

THE Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Councillor Vilma Collins, is hosting a three-course dinner with entertainment, to raise money for her civic charity choices - Redcar and Teesmouth lifeboats, St John Ambulance and local charity groups.

The event, on the eve of St Patrick's Day, will have an Irish flavour, with entertainment provided by the Fettlers and Robson's Irish Dancers. There will also be a disco, tombola and raffle. It will be hosted by BBC Radio Cleveland presenter Stewart MacFarlane and takes place at the Regency Hotel, in Redcar, on Saturday, March 16 from 7.30pm. GOOD VOICE: Redcar Male Voice Choir held its 43rd annual meeting in the Rafa Club, Redcar. Officers re-elected were: president, Tom McCafferty; chairman, Ted Stevenson; vice-chairman, John Weir; secretary, Ray Davis; treasurer, Wilf Jones; compere, Martin McNulty; press officer, David Armstrong. REMEMBRANCE TREES: Last month's Hartlepool and District Hospice trees of remembrance event in Middleton Grange shopping centre, Hartlepool, raised more than £7,000. The hospice would like to thank everyone who donated their time or bought baubles for the tree.

FUNDRAISING EVENT: The Mandale Residents' Association and Thornaby under-16s Football Club raised £602 by bag packing at the Asda store, in Thornaby.

TRIPLE TRIUMPH: Stockton Borough Council's training and employment service is celebrating after three of its trainees were employed by Middlesbrough firm Hills Interiors and Construction Limited. David Tonner, Richard Middlemas and Stephen Kelly are all working towards NVQ Level two in wood occupations.

JUMBLE SALE: Marske Methodist Church, in Hummershill Lane, is the venue for a jumble sale on Saturday, at 1pm. Admission is 10p and there will be a cake stall and refreshments. All proceeds will go to the church.

TABLE TOP SALE: Saltburn In Bloom is hosting a table top sale at Saltburn Community Centre on Saturday, from 10am until 4pm. Refreshments will be available
