THE next generation of budding pop stars are to be given the opportunity to shine by a new pop school which is to visit Darlington.
On Saturday, February 16, the New Generation Pop and DJ School, run by the music agency Generator, will give young people a taste of the popular music industry and an insight into launching a music career.
The pop school will cover everything from starting out and stagecraft to vocal skills and dancing.
Generator's Sue Wilkinson said: "Thousands of youngsters dream of being the next big thing, but securing a record deal and getting on Top of the Pops isn't as easy as it might look.
"Generator hopes that New Generation will give young people an insight into the music industry and making music."
The free scheme is part of Generator's Music Maker programme, which is funded by the National Foundation for Youth Music.
The event will be open to people under 18 at Darlington Arts Centre, between 10am and 5pm.
To book a place call the Generator Hotline on 0191-245 0099. Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
