A STUDENT, who passed a gruelling survival weekend, is to spend three weeks in Ghana as her reward.
Helen Dixon, 18, from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington, will fly to Accra in July with Raleigh International, to work on community and environmental projects.
She was chosen for the adventure after completing a survival weekend in Sheffield.
Helen is studying for A levels and hopes to go on to study physiotherapy at Cardiff University.
She must raise £3,200 for the Ghana trip and has organised a series of events.
She said: "I'm organising a ceilidh on March 16 at the Millennium Centre, in Ravensdale Road, a quiz at my church, All Saints and Salutation in April, and I hope to do something in college.
