A TEENAGER remained in a serious condition in hospital last night after being hit by a van while crossing a road.
Accident investigators are appealing for witnesses to the incident at Central Avenue, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, on Tuesday.
The 14-year-old was struck as he crossed the road between the junctions of Defoe Crescent and Feltham Close, at about 3.40pm, as he walked home from school.
He suffered head and internal injuries and was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
The van driver, a 30-year-old man, was uninjured in the incident.
