A CLEVELAND girls' hockey team has reached third place in a national schools competition.
The Red House school under-16s team from Norton qualified for the British National aerospace knockout competition in Leeds after a fantastic season.
They were Stockton champions after resounding wins over Northfield and Teesside high schools. They went on to beat Lawrence Jackson school in the county semi-final and clinched their place in the North semi-final in Leeds with a 3-0 win over MacMillan school, Middlesbrough, in the county final.
The event attracted teams from North Yorkshire, Durham, Northumberland, West Yorkshire and Humberside.
Jane Merriman, head of physical education, said: "This is a remarkable achievement for a school so small and we are immensely proud of all the girls."
