FOODlovers could be in for a treat this year with plans for two restaurants to open in Northallerton.
Plans have been submitted to Hambleton District Council for a restaurant in an empty building next to High Street hairdresser's Scissory.
The former Ministry of Fisheries and Food offices have been vacant since the agency, now the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, moved to premises in Crosby Road.
Local businessman George Crow is hoping to add a 300-seat restaurant to the Golden Lion Hotel. Mr Crow was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
The town council offered no objections to either of the applications at its meeting on Monday
