THE creator of the Angel of the North will be among artists presenting their work at an exhibition at the Bowes Museum next month.
Antony Gormley will join eight other internationally-renowned artists who have created works for the At Home with Art exhibition, at the museum, in Barnard Castle, County Durham.
The exhibition has been curated in conjunction with the Tate Gallery, Homebase, the National Touring Exhibitions from the Hayward Gallery and the Art Council of England.
Each of the nine artists was appointed a family to work with, drawing inspiration from particular household objects and their uses.
Another challenge for the artists was that their final piece had to be able to be mass-produced by Homebase.
Mr Gormley, who usually bases his works on the human form, has designed a series of coat pegs based on the family with which he worked.
Dr Anne Allen, audience development manager for the museum, said: "It is both refreshing and promising to see a collection of distinguished artists working together on an exhibition that has travelled nationwide, and is now here at the Bowes Museum."
