A WEARSIDE butcher is returning to his roots to take over as shop manager.
Stuart Wood started work 26 years ago as a Saturday boy at Dickson's, in Blandford Street, Sunderland.
He moved on to join the family firm's Houghton-le-Spring branch, where he has worked for the past 13 years.
Now, thanks to a managerial shuffle, he is returning to Blandford Street as its boss.
He will be joined by supervisor Dianne Stewart, who is moving from the High Street West shop in Sunderland.
Mr Wood said he is happy to be moving back to the shop where his career began, although it was then owned by a different company.
"I started there as a Saturday boy and have some happy memories of my early days at the shop," he said.
"It will be nice to return."
