A NEWTON Aycliffe soldier was among more than 100 competitors in an Army judo championships.
Mick Miles, 26, of 261 Signal Squadron, competed in the Army's novice and intermediate judo competition at the Army School of Physical Training, in Aldershot. He has been doing judo for a year.
"I've always been interested in martial arts and used to do aikido. Judo is a bit more physical than that, but I eventually want to go on the Army team," he said.
The former Woodham School pupil joined the Army in 1997, and has served in Kosovo and Oman.
