A chess tournament attracted enthusiasts from all over the country at the weekend.
The 21st Redcar Open Chess Congress was held in east Cleveland, with MPs Ashok Kumar and Vera Baird having a go at the game.
Disabled people, including Stan Lovell of Redcar, also took part in the three-day tournament, organised by the Cleveland Chess Association and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
Almost 100 chess players, from as far away as London, converged on Coatham Memorial Hall.
The congress is part of the UK chess grand prix circuit, which has prize money of £3,000.
Players battled through five rounds of games each, with one on Friday, two on Saturday and two yesterday.
Gerard Walsh, of the Cleveland Chess Association, said: "Chess in Redcar has been successful for many years, but particularly in the past 20 years, when we have been holding this tournament."
