A 17-year-old youth appeared in court at the weekend accused of wounding an eight-week-old baby with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The teenager, from Morpeth, Northumberland, was remanded in custody until February 1 by Northumberland magistrates.
The baby was in a critical condition in Newcastle General Hospital yesterday, five days after admission for what were believed to be non-accidental injuries
