MIDDLESBROUGH striker Andy Campbell has revealed he could sense an FA Cup shock when he entered the field as a second half substitute against Manchester United.

Boro scored two goals in the last five minutes against the Premiership champions at the Riverside to snatch victory when a fourth round replay at Old Trafford next week looked on the cards.

And Campbell, who cemented victory with his first goal in 21 months after Noel Whelan's opener, indicated how he believed Cup progress was within the hosts' grasp when he entered the fray with quarter of an hour to go.

"I felt that United were a little uneasy at the back when I came on," said the speedy forward, who was making only his third appearance of the season when he replaced the injured Mark Wilson.

"They were a bit wary of pace. And although it will have been frustrating for Willow to go off, I wanted to make the most of it.

"Whenever the ball was in the air Man. United were just eating the ball up, but when the ball was on the ground they seemed to struggle a bit.

"And thankfully that is my type of game and in the second half we did cause them a little bit of trouble.

"We had a few shots and got the crowd up - that gave us a lift.

"We had a few half-chances but we needed a little luck and we got that."

The first goal came after Whelan latched onto a Mark Crossley punt, which Laurent Blanc failed to deal with, and then Campbell's header four minutes later stemmed from a blundered Fabien Barthez clearance.

But both of them were the result of Boro's hard work in the final third of the field.

And Campbell admitted it was nice to be back in action and score with a rare header.

"For me it was just a good chance to get out there and play," said the 21-year-old. "It was my first goal for the first team this season and I tried to do exactly what the gaffer told me to do.

"He said for me to try to get in behind them and cause a few problems.

"I chased the first back pass down, which is just my game really, and I tried to use my pace to continue to do that.

"When the ball was coming across I was just worried that I was going to miss because if they'd have gone down the other end and scored we would have been in trouble."

Meanwhile, Boro's Italian defender Gianluca Festa has revealed he is considering his future at the club following his failure to command a first team place.

Festa, who lost his place against Bolton Wanderers on January 19 when Ugo Ehiogu returned from a groin strain, has held talks with manager Steve McClaren.

The 32-year-old, who made his comments in the club's official programme on Saturday, said: "The fact remains that I must now think very hard about my future.

"I have spoken to the manager about my concerns and he understands my feelings.

"I would like to stay in England for another three years but at the moment I do not know where my future will be."

The Sardinian was unavailable for the visit of United due to a hamstring injury.

Middlesbrough have taken Boston United's teenage striker Anthony Elding on a week's trial.
