A MAN reported missing from a hostel has called relatives to let them know he is safe.
Fears were growing for Michael Coonan, 32, who went missing from the Tow Law hostel, County Durham, on Saturday, January 12, after saying he was going shopping.
Police issued an appeal to find Mr Coonan, who had been without medication to control his mood swings. He had been sighted in Bedlington, North-umberland and Chester-le-Street, County Durham.
But on Friday, he contacted his mother to let her know he was safe.
Detective Sergeant Kieran Reed said: "He's still technically classed as missing from home, but he has been in touch with his mother.
