Tow Law Rose and Crown pulled off a good odd point home win over Sunniside Moss when they took one of the three doubles. After the two trebles had been shared the home side dominated the singles with wins from Alan Ross, Derek Mowbray, David Bruce and Stephen Smith with the only replies coming from Gerrard Beveridge and Lee Cullinan. The leading individual scorers were J. Close 140 for the Royal Oak, Colin Boughey with 140 for the Cattle Mart and a 112 double start from Colin Howcroft of the New Market A. Tow Law New Market's maximum home win over Hamilton Row Black Horse moved them within two points of the leading Newhouse Club. Esh Stag's Head are eight points adrift of the New Market.

Willington League

David Newton of Willington Black horse Inn was the only player to hear the "180" cry this week but he also saw his team go down heavily at home to the Black Horse Tavern, who moved up to second place, where they are nineteen points behind the prospect Club but with a match in hand. Hunwick Joiners Arms trail the Tavern by four points with the same games played.

Willington Cottles pulled off a good home win over Willington Lion and Unicorn but were stretched in the process. John Barron, Ian Cowan and Brian Vayro took singles for Cottles but were matched when Kevin Hill, John McCann and Jason Martin scored for the visitors. Cottles took the first two doubles through John Scott with Keith Nicholson and Chris Burnham with Colin Todd. The third doubles went to the visiting John Bolam and Kevin Hill. Cottles took the team game but the Lion and Unicorn kept the score close when Kevin Hill beat John Scott in the captain's game.

Tow Law New Market B put their runners-up hopes in jeopardy when they went down by the odd point at home to Crook Cricket Club whilst their only rivals, Crook Queen's Head were winning at Crook Olde Horse Shoe for the loss of only two points. This puts the Market into the last game of the season against unbeaten champions, Crook Coach and Horses needing five points to be certain of taking the second place trophies.

Crook Golden Fleece emphasised their top place when they only dropped one point at Crook White Swan to move 16 points clear at the top. Crook Mill House lead the race for the runners-up spot with a three points advantage over Crook Queen's Head and Crook Royal Sun, who share the third place.
