EIGHT teams of golfers teed off in the dark to help young cancer patients.
Bishop Auckland Golf Club members answered a call from men's captain Clive Auld to support the Children's Cancer Fund at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle.
They used US-designed equipment, including balls which glow in the dark, for a competition on Friday night.
The fund is Mr Auld's chosen charity for his year as captain, and he hopes to raise several thousand pounds through a series of golfing events.
He said that children from the Bishop Auckland area would benefit, adding: "Local children are treated at the RVI when diagnosed with this terrible disease. They are referred from the children's ward at Bishop Auckland General Hospital.
"I have visited the RVI cancer ward and, after looking around the children and teenage wards, I knew immediately that I wanted to help."
