Spennymoor are looking at a play off challenge as their transformation continued with a 2-1 home win over North Ferriby on Saturday.

Moors are unbeaten in ten under manager Tony Lee since Christmas, and have stormed up the league from the bottom four into the top seven, and they are now just five points away from the promotion play off zone.

Lee isn't getting too carried away by thoughts of the play offs. "We're getting closer to them, but we have to continue winning matches.

"We're still one or two players short at the moment, but hopefully we can sign them. I thought we played well in terrible conditions, and at one time we should have been four or five up."

Moors took the lead after 35 minutes, when Jarrod Suddick sent Wayne Edgcumbe clear to beat the advancing keeper.

And in a purple patch before the break, five players missed chances to increase the lead.

Moors deservedly scored their second after 72 minutes when Chris Lynch broke down the left and crossed low for Suddick to score from ten yards. Ferriby, who beat Moors twice earlier in the season, pulled one back through Gavin Knight after a foul by Richie Watson eight minutes from the end.

Moors have now won their last seven league games.

In the Premier Division, Bishop Auckland's game at Droylsden was postponed, but they still slipped one place down the table because of Hucknall's home win over Barrow.

Whitby Town are now just one point behind Bishops with four games in hand after they won 2-0 at fifth placed Vauxhall Motors.

Whitby keeper Phil Naisbett pulled off two good saves early in the game, but Whitby took the lead after 13 minutes when Alex Gildea scored with a right foot shot from the edge of the box.

And after weathering a long spell of pressure from the home side, David Anderson scored the second after 57 minutes with a low shot. Blyth Spartans lost 3-0 at home to Altrincham.
