Grocery Aid - Volunteers are wanted for the Durham depot of Grocery Aid, the charity of the food and grocery industry, serving over 80 sites in the Durham area. Companies donate surplus products and deliver them to the depot.

Charities can then register and collect the products free of charge.

With additional volunteers the number of local charities supported could be substantially increased.

NEPACS

Opportunities exist for volunteers to help the North-East Prison After Care Society in the running of the Visitors' Centre at Low Newton Prison in Brasside. The Visitors' Centre is situated outside the prison and provides pleasant surroundings for the use of the families and friends of prisoners before they go on their visit.

Volunteers can help on the reception desk or in the tea bar. No experience is necessary but must have a genuine liking for people.

The Centre is open seven days a week 1-4pm and is on a bus route. There is free parking and help towards expenses.

If you are interested in any of the vacancies above or would like to know more about other volunteering opportunities in the Chester-le-Street area then come along to the Volunteer Centre, Clarence Terrace, and speak to Mel.
