South West Durham League

A representative team from the League entertained Stockton Blytholme Club and were immediately warned of the difference in class when Tony Mackinder made a 54 break on his first visit to the table in Tow Law Club. Heppell Hodgson tried hard to close the gap but ended beaten by 59 points.

John Bate was the second league player in action and started well against Con Richardson, but the visitor steadily pulled away to win by 49 points. The home side's hopes were lifted when Arnold Fleming came through to win a very tight game against Stockton's Brian Fleetham by just two points.

Jimmy Evans looked as if he might make it two for the South West Durham side when he led an out-of-touch Simon Snee. However the visitors found his touch just in time to record a nine points victory. Ken Robinson represented the home side in the next game against Tony Mackinder, who again found his length with a 52 break and went on to win by 51 points. Charlie Donaghy stayed level with the visiting Con Richardson in the early stages but a good finish by the Stockton man gave him a victory by 41 points.

John Bate was 43 points short of victory when Brian Fleetham ran in an unfinished 30 break. Simon Snee then put in two 30 breaks to beat Ken Robinson by 95 points and Tony Mackinder finished a great night for the Blytholme Club with a 61 break to beat Jimmy Evans by 65 points.

The spirit and goodwill shown on a very enjoyable night have made both teams determined to make this an annual home and away fixture.
