Rohm and Haas JOC Hetton Youth League

Herrington are now nine points adrift of leaders Jarrow St Bedes, but they are four games in hand. They staged one of only two games to be played at the weekend and hammered bottom of the table Springboard 10-0. There was no stopping the Herrington lads and three players in particular. Michael Fletcher, David Smith and Brian Smiles all recorded hat-tricks with Andrew Dawson the other marksman. In the other fixture Lumley had little difficulty seeing off the challenge of Ryhope. A first half goal from regular marksman John Lidster was followed by second half goal from Craig McManus and Darren Curry. The victory, Lumley's seventh of the season, enabled them to move into joint fifth position in the table, while Ryhope, who are not enjoying the considerable success they have achieved in recent years, are fifth from bottom.

Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League

New Hardwick won for the seventh time and improved their position in the bottom half of the table. They visited West Denton in the only game to take place and returned comfortable 2-0 winners. Bill Neesham and Mark Jewitt were the scorers.

Walker Central continue to lead the table by four points from Whitley Bay, who have a match in hand, while Redheugh are handily placed third from top. They are five points worse off than Walker Central and have fulfilled the same number of fixtures.

New County North Durham Youth League

The programme was again badly affected by the weather and just two games were staged. In the U17 division A Newcastle East End defeated Consett 4-2. Paul McDonald and Daniel Craggs netted for the Steelmen who have managed four wins in 11 outings. All the league fixtures in the U17 division B were postponed but one tie went ahead in the Charlie Thomas Memorial Trophy. Haydon Bridge and Cleveland Hall draw 2-2 with Carl Phillips and John Steadman on the mark for the Bridge while Kevin Poppleton and Andrew Pascall replied for Cleveland Hall.

Apollo Doors Gateshead Youth League

The weather again wreaked havoc and most of the fixtures in the five divisions were postponed. Redheugh defeated Blackfyne 6-1 when Terry Galbraith struck a hat-trick, while Low Fell B crushed Blaydon 9-2. Most of the goals were credited to Dean Transon who struck five times and Jack Fannon (2). In the U13 section Blaydon hammered bottom of the table Cooper Hall 10-0 and two players shared the honours. Shaun Vipond helped himself to six goals and John Rogers found the target on four occasions.

In the U14 section Stocksfield just had the edge on Consett winning by the odd goal in five. James Prince with a brace of goals and Gary Beadle were on the mark for Stocksfield while David Parker and Carl Turner responded for Consett.

Newton Aycliffe

Youth Centre

This was a hard fought draw between NAYC and Seaton Carew who drew 1-1. Keeper Ross Mc Beath made a breath taking save to deny Joe Miller from scoring from a well struck volley. The visitors took the lead in the first two minutes before half time when Gavin Whaites scored.

Joe Miller hit the net to equalise for Aycliffe. Aycliffe Manager Joe Blackett thought that the draw was a fair result as both teams played well in difficult conditions. In the friendly that followed Aycliffe ran out 3-2 winners with goals from Ross Bennett (2), and Liam Fenwick.

Brompton

The Under-16s became champions of Division 4 of the Teesside Junior Football Alliance following a comprehensive 7-1 defeat of rivals Stokesley. Brompton went into the match needing to take all three points against Stokesley to pip their rivals to the post. Brompton pressed hard from the start and this constant pressure was rewarded with a goal from Vernalls. Stokesley levelled but with only a win good enough Brompton started the second half by exerting more pressure and a second goal for Vernalls saw Brompton take the lead.Brompton then took command and Vernalls netted a further two goals after great interplay between fellow strikers Shardha, Epson and Tasker. Brompton maintained this pressure and further goals from A.Thompson, Tasker and a fifth for Vernalls secured an awesome victory. Brompton's Man of the Match was A. Thompson.

Brompton U13s' six match unbeaten run came to an abrupt end despite an excellent team performance, going down 2-0 at home to Thirsk. Peter Star was voted Brompton's man of the match.

Auckland & District EBAC Youth League

Bishop Auckland under-18s beat visitors Coundon & Leeholme 3-1 on Saturday to make it three wins out of three in the Auckland and District EBAC Youth League. Gary Whittaker gave Bishops an early lead, Chris Howe equalising three minutes before half time.

John Russell scored twice in the second half to clinch it for Bishops, whose MoM was Dean Maddison. Sean Denham was Coundon's MoM.

Willington under-18s will play Gateshead Redheugh BC in the final of the Durham County Cup at New Ferens Park, Durham, on Thursday next (March 7), kick-off 7pm.

Hungry Jacks

Hungry Jacks Under-12s entertained Richmond and came out 3-0 victors in a hard fought game. Hungry Jacks went in at half time 1-0 up with a superb goal from Tim Hall. Two further goals from Daniel Fox secured a good win and keep Hungry Jacks of Northallerton on top of the league. Hungry Jacks are looking for players to join the club. Thirsk Falcons

THE under-9s came up against Darlington Albion with both the A team and B team recording their biggest wins of the season.Thirsk A beating Albion B 20 - 0 with goals from Nick Cressey 6, Daniel Easton 5, Matthew Cussons 3, Ryan Mckendry 3, Nick Newcombe 2 and Simon Taylorson. Thirsk A then played Albion A and came out winning 10-1 with goals from Ryan Mckendry 4, Daniel Easton 3, Nick Newcombe 2 and Nick Cressey. Thirsk B beat Albion A 3 - Steven Jamieson 2 and Ben Elders getting the goals.Thirsk B then beat Albion B 10 - 0 Ben Elders 5, Steven Jamieson 2, Liam Evans 2 and Robin Cook grabbing the goals.

Falcons U12s kept their title hopes alive following an excellent 5-1 win against in-form Brompton.

Thirsk were given an early boost when on two minutes Tom James headed home from Sam Raw's corner. With Falcons looking for a second and after creating many good chances, it was Brompton who broke to score on 15 minutes.

Thirsk rallied and following a goalmouth scramble Tom Burrell netted from close range five minutes before half time. The second half was all Thirsk and it came as no surprise when Robbie Fountain raced through, rounded the keeper and coolly slotted home. Raw's free kick was cleared off the line.

Duncan Padget made it four shortly afterwards when he shot home from five years. James' long distance shot was well saved by the visitors before Fountain scored late on drilling a shot into the corner of the net.

Adam Williams made a return to the side after a long absence through injury.

City of Durham

The Under 8's,9's and 10's leagues commence again in March. The 11 a-side squad fought a good comeback to win 4 - 2 against a good S.A.F.C 24/7 Reds side on Sunday. After failing to take their chances in the first half they found themselves 2 - 0 down at half time. A goal from Joe Hughes and a coolly taken penalty by Jamie Abbott levelled the scores with two minutes to go. A goal from James Ellis put the boys ahead and Fergus Bell sealed the victory to complete a great second half display.

City of Durham Pumas faced Horden in the quarter-final of the Russell Foster League Cup. The boys went ahead early in the first half with a goal from Dink Fryatt but the second goal eluded them. The game finished 1 - 0 to the Pumas. They now go on to meet Sunderland side Town End Farm in the semi-final.

The Panthers travelled to Waldridge Park for their league game and despite battling well the score ended 3-1 to Waldridge with the Durham goal coming from Andy Summers
