THERE have been more arrests as a crackdown continues on Teesside's drug dealers.

Nine people have been arrested for supplying drugs, four for possession of drugs and another three arrests for further offences which have come to light.

Besides the arrests quantities of heroin, crack cocaine, Ecstasy, amphetamines and cannabis resin have been seized following ten raids in Middlesbrough.

Six of the nine arrested for supplying and all those arrested for possession were given police bail pending forensic results.

Four men and a woman reporting back from police bail as a result of previous raids have all been charged with offences.

The latest arrests brings the total of arrests since the Dealer a Day campaign began last December to 139 with £13,000 worth of drugs and almost £25,000 in cash seized from 150 raids.

Detective Superintendent Adrian Roberts, the man behind the campaign, said: "This has been another great week for local communities, but, as we intended, a tough one for the dealers.

"These results, many of which come from tip-offs show what can be achieved when residents are prepared to work with us. As long as information keeps coming in there will be no let up," he vowed.
