Willington League

Hunwick Club moved ten points clear at the top of the table when they only dropped three points on their visit to Willington Brewer's Droop A. The home side started in style with singles wins from Alan Lee and Michael Pickles. Robert Todd and Alan Carr pulled the Club level only to see Colin Lee restore the Brewer's lead. The final singles was taken by the Club's Ian Richardson to square the match. Hunwick Club took over in the doubles and took all three points to strengthen their top spot.

Howden Australian are in second place with a match in hand after Hunwick Quarry Burn failed to arrive for their match. The Prospect Club are three points behind the Australian after they also missed their match when Willington Commercial failed to arrive.

Bishop Auckland

Area League

Darren Briggs of Spennymoor Voltigeur proved to be the star of the Third Round of the league Doubles Championship when he broke off in the final frame of his match and cleared the table to go forward in the competition.

Tow Law League

David Craggs of Tow Law Black Horse completed a double when he won both the singles and the doubles on the League Finals Night held at the Black Horse. In the Singles Final he beat Raymond Johnson of Sunniside Comedian without dropping a frame and then joined Anthony Hird to take the doubles title with a clean sheet win over Kevin McCormick and Paul Carroll of Tow Law Football Club.

In the doubles semi-final Craggs and Hird beat Robert Hopps and Ray Weir of Tow Law New Market in straight frames, whilst McCormick and Carroll had a walk-over when Steven Maughan's partner, Stephen Turner failed to turn up.

In the singles quarter finals Craggs beat Lee Mowbray of Tow Law Rose and Crown; Charlie Donaghy of Tow Law Football Club beat Les Hind of Tow Law Football Club; Steven Todd of Tow Law Rose and Crown had a walk-over on Stephen Turner of Tow Law Station; Raymond Johnson had a walk-over on his team mate Lee Cullinnan.

The first semi-final produced the match of the night when Donaghy took the first frame against Craggs then optimistically crashed the balls open on the break and let in Craggs to clear up. In a tense decider Donaghy out manoeuvred Craggs and was in a certain winning position until he inexplicably missed the ball and Craggs cleared up. In the other semi-final Todd took the first frame and missed a good chance to take the second. However Johnson took advantage to level and then, after both players had winning chances, managed to clinch a spot in the final.

Durham and

District League

Coxhoe Club's target of landing the runners-up spot hit a major problem when they lost by three points away to Ushaw Moor Catholic Club. The home side roared into a 4-0 lead with wins from Graeme Richardson, Ian Toase, Billy Smith and Paul Vasey. Simon Jackson pulled one back for the visitors but Ivor Kerr, Paul Vasey and Ian Toase took three more points to push the Catholic Club further ahead at 7-1. Gary McLauchlan and Paul Mullen pulled back a couple of points for the home side but then Graeme Richardson clinched victory for the homeside when he took the eighth point. Simon Jackson won his second singles for Coxhoe Club and continued his good form to beat Paul Vasey in the captain's game to restrict the damage of defeat.

Spennymoor League

Spennymoor Ashtree took the captain's game to edge through to an odd point victory on their visit to Spennymoor Hillingdon. The home side had singles wins from G. Smith and B. Smith whilst A. Gaskell, G. Jackson and C. Pennall moved the visitors ahead. B. Geldart and P. Fox squared the match when they took the first doubles only to see the Ashtree move ahead when A. Thompson and G. Jackson took the second doubles. The visitor'sclinched their victory when C. penal beat C. Simpson in the captain's game.

Spennymoor Quinns Inn moved to the top of the table with a two points lead over Spennymoor Voltigeur and Spennymoor Victoria. The former leaders, Spennymoor Salvin Arms slipped down to fourth spot, a point behind the joint third placed teams.
