Police are appealing for information about a fatal car crash in the early hours of Thursday.
The incident happened shortly before 3.40am when a Ford Sierra collided with a fence post on Mainthorpe Terrace, Hartlepool, Teesside. No other vehicles are thought to have been involved. The 35-year-old driver, a local man, died at the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call police on (01642) 326326.
CAMERAS ROLL: Four teams of amateur antique dealers will be in Leyburn, North Yorkshire, for the recording of the BBC daytime show Bargain Hunt, next week. Presenter David Dickinson, and experts Philip Serrell and Kate Alcock, will guide the teams as they spend £200 on antiques which they then must sell for profit at auction. The sales will take place at Tennants' auction centre, in Leyburn, on Tuesday and Wednesday, from 11am until noon. Two episodes of the show will be filmed over the two days.
Youth charged: A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a series of indecent assaults in Hartlepool last November. The arrest followed extensive publicity to identify the attacker. The teenager has been released on police bail pending further inquiries. Hartlepool police yesterday thanked members of the public who came forward and assisted with the investigation.
Sunday stroll: Anyone wanting to walk off their chocolate Easter eggs can take part in a seven to eight- mile stroll tomorrow. The walk, organised by the Cleveland branch of the Ramblers Association, leaves Stokesley Town Hall, North Yorkshire, at 2pm. WHEEL WALKING: A collection of walks designed for wheelchair users or parents with pushchairs should be ready by summer after Wear Valley Disability Access Forum received a £4,000 grant from the County Durham Foundation to re-print its Walking With Wheels booklet.

House fire: Two appliances from Stockton fire station tackled a blaze at a half-built bungalow at Benson Street, in the Norton area of the Teesside town. A quantity of rubbish and carpet was destroyed, while the property suffered some smoke damage
