A MAN was robbed at knifepoint as he walked along a street in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The 22-year-old man was walking in Heslington Road, York, at about 1am when a man jumped out from an alley leading to Regent Street, wielding a four-inch blade and threatened him, demanding money. The victim handed over his wallet. The attacker is described as white, in his late teens or early 20s, 5ft 10in, of slim build, clean shaven with short dark hair. He wore a dark waist-length jacket, light trousers and dark shoes. Anyone with information is urged to call York police on (01904) 631321.

Teen secrets: A free workshop for parents, on Drugs, Sex and Relationships - Things You Would Prefer Not To Know About Your Teenager, will be held in the St Robert's Centre, Harrogate, next Thursday, from 6.30pm.

Jubilee blooms: The Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations at St Mary's Church, Thirsk, will include a flower festival from June 1 to 9 and sponsors are being sought for the flowers and the arrangements.

On SONG: The Mowbray Singers will give a concert for children aged seven or more and their parents, at the parochial hall in Sowerby, near Thirsk, on Saturday, April 20, at 2.30pm. Craft fair: Egton Village Hall on the edge of the North York Moors is the venue for a craft fair on Saturday, April 13, from 10am until 4pm. Admission is free and there will be refreshments available.
