PUPILS at a Darlington school have enlisted the support of the mayor to help them raise enough money for their World Challenge Expedition to Malawi.
Hannah Elliott, Rachel Davies and Jessica Pearson, who are all in the upper fifth year at Polam Hall School for Girls, approached the Mayor's Fund for help with the cost of their trip to Malawi in July.
The Mayor, Councillor Isobel Hartley, approved a donation of £200 towards the fundraising total, to ensure the expedition goes ahead.
Each of the girls has to raise £2,785 to go on the expedition.
While in Malawi they will work at a health centre and a hostel for the blind.
Headteacher Helen Hamilton said: "The challenge to raise these funds is not an easy one and the girls are very appreciative"
Anyone who would like to make a donation towards the cost of the trip can contact the school office.
