A POLICE officer's widow, whose three sons also joined the force, has died aged 100.
Mary Elizabeth Hope (nee Sample) died on Monday at Hallgarth Nursing Home, Durham.
She gave up working in service to marry County Durham officer Frank Hope in 1928. They had five children - Frank, Betty, John, Ann and Peter. The three sons and their father served in the County Durham force for a total of more than 100 years.
Durham Chief Constable George Hedges visited her on her birthday in December.
The funeral is at St Cuthbert's Church, Shadforth, at 11am on Monday, with interment at Shadforth Cemetery.
