A UNIQUE collection of autographs, including that of Albert Einstein, are going under the hammer later this month.
Middlesbrough-born William Bowran, who died in 1976, collected 250 autographs from the likes of Rudyard Kipling and the famous pianist Rachmaninoff.
The collection of famous names from the 20th Century came to Newcastle auctioneers Anderson and Garland in a single album.
Unusually, they are being auctioned as single lots and are expected to fetch thousands of pounds.
The smallest autograph in the collection is that of Einstein, which measures scarcely wider than a 10p piece. It is expected to sell for thousands of times that amount, with offers in the region of £500 to £700.
Collectables' specialist John Anderson said: "He ended up with possibly the most impressive collection of world famous names we've seen in our saleroom to date."
The auction takes place at Anderson and Garland, in Newcastle, on Friday. June 21.
