A MUSEUM dedicated to all that's gruesome and scary is trying to raise the spirits.

York Dungeon is already renowned for its gory tableaux, featuring the horrors of the past.

Next Tuesday, it hopes to get spookier still with the help of medium Derek Acorah and parapsychologist Jason Karl.

Special stalls will be set up between 6.30pm and 8.30pm to guide visitors through the intricacies of palm-reading, rune stone and tarot reading.

And three separate seances will be held with every hint of otherworldly activity carefully monitored and filmed.

Dungeon boss Helen Douglas said: "We have hosted similar events in the past and they were so successful we're hoping to make them a regular feature."

Jason and Derek are the co-hosts of a new Living TV channel series Most Haunted, in which they visit 16 of the UK's spookiest houses, castles and other locations.

The ghostly goings-on on Tuesday will be open to everyone over the age of 16.
