Yorkshire have a great chance to stop the rot when their Phoenix side bid to round-up Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Trent Bridge tomorrow in the Norwich Union League.

Although Yorkshire lost their unbeaten tag in the competition on Tuesday, when they were heavily defeated by Worcestershire Royals, they are in a much happier position than their opponents, who have lost all three of their First Division matches.

Yorkshire coach Wayne Clark has named 13 but is likely to keep faith with the same side for the time being which means that Michael Lumb can expect to be 12th man.

Chris Silverwood, who missed Tuesday's game because of an ankle injury, is included in the squad but will probably be given more time to get fully fit for the Championship match against Sussex which starts at Headingley on Wednesday. Richard Blakey, who has the unenviable task of leading flagging Yorkshire while Darren Lehmann is involved in Australia's home one-day series with Pakistan, is in an upbeat mood about Yorkshire's chances tomorrow.

"It was disappointing to lose to Worcestershire but we have won two out of three matches and a two-thirds success rate towards the end of the season would see us competing for the title," he said.

"It is good news that England have made Michael Vaughan and Matthew Hoggard available again and Simon Katich will be trying hard to make up for his first ball duck on his debut.

"Simon was desperate to do well against Worcestershire and he was gutted when he ran himself out.

"We have done enough talking about what has gone wrong and it is now up to the players who are not performing to start putting things right.

"Hopefully, we will come back from Trent Bridge with a victory but they will be as determined to end their bad patch as we are ours."

Gavin Hamilton, who was sent to the second team after suffering a loss of form and confidence, scored runs and took wickets in this week's Second XI Roses match over four days at Scarborough and the all-rounder may be back in the reckoning on Wednesday.
