A FEATHERED fugitive was an extra attraction at a school fete at the weekend.
The lone cockatiel was spotted by teachers at Whitworth School, near Spennymoor, when they arrived to set up their summer fundraising fete.
It sheltered in trees in the school grounds and now staff are trying to trace its owner.
A school spokesman said: "It must be hungry. We hope it wasn't too frightened by the noise of the fair."
