CHILDREN at a Redcar school are in a class of their own when it comes to netball.

Youngsters at Riverdale Primary School have just been declared champions of the sport in east Cleveland. The school's netball team, coached by teacher Sarah Metcalfe and school governor Graeme Wright, recently represented Redcar and Cleveland at the Youth Trust Games 2002, having already won the Ings Farm Primary School Summer Fair tournament. "This is the first time we have done this type of big competition so we were quite thrilled," said headteacher Pam Shawcross. "What we are trying to do is to emphasise working as an individual and working as a team. A lot of co-operation, and a lot of dedication and commitment has been demonstrated by these children."
