KIRK Merrington's summer gala will be held on Sunday, July 21, from 1.30pm to 5pm, on the recreation ground.
The event, organised by the village's youth club, won Durham County Council's Youth Work that Works award for 2001.
The award was given because the gala aimed to develop a close link with all ages of the community and, with nearly 500 people attending, achieved its aim.
The gala is a partnership development between the young people of Kirk Merrington and the youth club's staff.
The event brings together all ages of the local community.
Organisers are still looking for volunteers to help on the day. Anyone interested can contact Sue Woods on 0775 1029745.
